After her adventures on the island, Roz the robot is repaired and reprogrammed. She is sent to work on a farm run by the Shareef family. Though she performs her tasks perfectly, she misses her home and her son, Brightbill the goose. Roz secretly begins to plan her escape so she can return to the island and the life she truly loves. Along the way, she must use her intelligence, kindness, and survival skills—and make new friends and enemies.
At its core, the series is about adoption and unconventional family structures. Roz is not the biological parent of Brightbill, nor is she human, yet their bond is unbreakable. In this sequel, Roz also learns to care for the human family on the farm, complicating her desire to return to the island.
