We contrast these findings with a control sample of Hindi and English romantic clips, which tend to valorize individualistic passion, misunderstandings as plot drivers, and grand gestures over everyday repair. Our results suggest that linguistic and cultural specificity in short-form media directly shapes viewers’ relational scripts, with Marathi-speaking respondents reporting higher satisfaction in conflict navigation and lower endorsement of jealous or possessive behaviors.
