Now you can play the legendary Optigan on your iPad or iPhone!
The Optigan, short for Optical Organ, was a chord organ from the early 70’s. It is remembered today for its unique system of sound reproduction using optical discs. These LP-sized film discs were optically encoded with 57 concentric tracks, which contained loops of musical combos playing chord patterns in different styles. Each disc contained a specific style of music (Bossa Nova, Big Band etc) which the user could control by pressing the chord buttons. Changing the discs was as simple as putting a new record on your turntable. Think of it as the 1971 version of GarageBand.
Despite this novel technology, the scratchy sound of the Optigan left a lot to be desired. iOptigan truthfully recreates that lo-fi sound. For more information about the original Optigan, please visit optigan.com!
The sound quality was quite low, even according to the standards of the 70's. We did nothing to polish up on this, so if you're looking for a clean, crisp instrument, look elsewhere.
But if you're ready for some audible patina, iOptigan is the right choice for you!
Forty discs were released, and all of them are available in iOptigan. These include all time favourites such as “Pop Piano Plus Guitar”, “Easy Does It With Vibes” and “Gay 90’s Walz”. The App comes with 25 of the original discs, the remaining 15 are available as in-App purchase, either individually or all together in the Complete Pak. Click on any cover for a demo.
He didn’t flinch. He exhaled sharply through his nose, clearing the mist, and shot forward for a double-leg takedown.
Then the bass dropped.
This was no longer a fight. It was a drowning. Agatha tried to create space with butterfly sweeps, but Josh’s top pressure was apocalyptic. With 45 seconds left, Josh passed to full mount. As he rained down hammerfists (controlled, but impactful), Agatha turned her back – a fatal mistake in Evolved rules. EvolvedFights 24 11 22 Agatha Delicious Vs Josh...
Tactical breakdown
Josh’s face was pale. Sweat and powdered sugar mixed on his brow. His body screamed. His training screamed tap . But he looked past her, toward the arena floor, where a single kid in the front row held a sign that read: JOSH DOESN’T QUIT. HE ADAPTS. He didn’t flinch
The match begins with both competitors engaging in a collar-and-elbow tie-up. Josh immediately utilizes his weight advantage, driving Agatha into the mats. Agatha displays resilience, utilizing her core strength to avoid being pinned flat. The early going sees Josh attempting to establish dominance through size, but Agatha remains active, constantly moving her hips to threaten submissions. The round is closely contested, with Josh controlling position but failing to score significant points due to Agatha’s active defense. This was no longer a fight
The deciding factor in this bout is conditioning. Josh’s reliance on explosive power begins to tax his cardio. Agatha, maintaining a steady pace, begins to dominate the scramble. She successfully secures a deep guard, controlling Josh’s posture. In a pivotal exchange, Josh attempts a power bomb to escape a submission, but Agatha counters the throw, landing in a dominant top position. This shift allows her to rack up points through face-sitting and chest-smothering pins, overwhelming the judge's scorecards. Josh appears gassed and unable to mount a coherent offense, reduced to defensive survival.
