Unlike the standard roster, Dong Zhuo is not handed to the player. He must be earned. To unlock him, a player must either defeat his army in battle or reach the rank of Emperor with any other faction. This requirement serves as a gatekeeper to a different style of play. By forcing the player to first overcome Dong Zhuo as an antagonist, Creative Assembly ensures that when you finally step into his silk robes, you understand exactly why the world fears him. You can spend Intimidation points in diplomacy to force other factions into deals they would otherwise refuse.
