In 2022, a hacker known as "Karanlık" (Dark) advertised a "bedava Mernis panel" on a dark web forum. The panel allowed 100 free queries per IP address. Over 15,000 people used it in three weeks. The panel was actually a honeypot operated by the Ankara Cyber Crimes Department. Every user's IP, browser fingerprint, and queried TC numbers were recorded. 78 people were arrested for unauthorized data access. The panel was a trap.
