It analyzes production models, distribution channels (OTT platforms, YouTube, film festivals, community screenings), aesthetic and narrative strategies, and socio-cultural themes (locality, labor, gender, caste, migration). Using a mixed-methods approach—case studies of five representative films, interviews with filmmakers and distributors, audience surveys, and industry data—the paper argues that these films function as sites of cinematic experimentation and social critique while facing sustainability challenges.
