This system replaces the traditional policy trees of Civilization V with a deeply engaging role-playing element. Your choice of Affinity dictates your victory conditions, your unit upgrades, and how other factions view you. A Supremacy player will eventually seek to "emancipate" Earth by conquering it, while a Harmony player might construct a "Mind Flower" to merge with the planet’s consciousness. This gives the late game a narrative weight that Civilization titles sometimes lack, transforming a strategy game into a story about the philosophical future of the species.
