The integration of digital materials in French as a Foreign Language (FLE) instruction has accelerated significantly. Among widely used method books, Le Nouveau Taxi 1 (Hachette FLE) occupies a prominent place for beginner learners (A1 level). This paper focuses specifically on the Cahier d’exercices corrigés – the answer key version of the workbook. The study examines: (1) the pedagogical function of the corrected workbook in self-directed learning, (2) the affordances and challenges of its distribution as a PDF file, (3) the legal status of such PDFs (official vs. pirated copies), and (4) implications for teachers, learners, and publishers. Using a mixed documentary and qualitative survey approach, the paper argues that while corrected PDF workbooks enhance autonomous learning, their unregulated circulation undermines publisher sustainability and encourages superficial learning practices.
